This substance helps the cork recover after being compressed

Cork has a typical cellular structure in which the cells usually have a pentagonal or hexagonal shape. The cell wall consists of a thin, lignin-rich middle layer (the inner primary wall), a thick secondary wall consisting of alternating corky and wax layers, and a thin third wall of polysaccharides. Some studies suggest that the secondary walls are woody and therefore may not consist of cork and wax alone. The cork chambers are filled with an air-like gas mixture that makes them behave like true "cushions", which helps the cork recover after compression.
This structure makes cork very elastic, airtight, heat-insulating, sound-insulating, electrically insulating and wear-resistant, and has the advantages of being non-toxic, odorless, low specific gravity, soft to the touch and non-flammable. No man-made product is comparable. In terms of chemical properties, a mixture of several hydroxy fatty acids and phenolic acids to form a mixture of esters is the characteristic component of cork, collectively known as cork.



These substances are resistant to corrosion and chemical attack. Therefore, they have no chemical effect on water, oil, gasoline, organic acids, salts, esters, etc., except for concentrated nitric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid, chlorine and iodine. It is widely used, such as bottle stopper, insulation equipment for refrigeration equipment, lifebuoy and sound insulation board.
